Prevent Unwanted Pregnancy
Detroit News Monday, July 21, 2003 Letters to the Editor Proponents of the "Legal Birth Definition Act" have stated that the goal of these bills is to force the U.S. Supreme Court to define when life begins and give a fetus legal personhood. In the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the Supreme Court stated the courts should not address this issue. It is clear that even 30 years later there is no medical, philosophical or theological consensus concerning the beginning of life. Instead of continuing to place restrictions on access to reproductive health care, we should be focusing on ways to improve health care for Michigan women.
